21 Day Sugar Detox – Get on it!

Regionals are over and I’m ready to do a little sugar detoxing.  With how much training I had been doing I had to ‘Dirty’ things up a little and add in quite a lot of white rice and oatmeal.  Why, you may ask?  Easy… Yams just don’t cut it in caloric density and I don’t have time (or stomach space) to eat the amount of food needed to sustain my muscle mass and energy level.  White rice and oats are two lower irritant foods I have dealt fine with in the past and high in glucose rather than fructose like fruit.

Using the principles I learned in CBL (refer to my post HERE how to Paleo-fy CBL) to increase my glycogen stores and I have to admit it paid off big time.  There was a point in time where I had totally depleted my stores, life sucked, training sucked and my overall performance took a severe dive! Surprisingly, I have read many a similar story from folks who jump on the Paleo Train and try to keep up their intensive CrossFit lives. Well, thankfully that degree of training is over for a while and I can get back to ‘normal’ eating (with a little red wine thrown in for pleasure).

Diane Sanfilippo from Balanced Bites has written an excellent program called “The 21 Day Sugar Detox”.  Many of you may think that I do not need to do a detox and you may be right but I’m going to do one anyway and tell you how it goes!  JOIN ME! I’m starting July 8th!

About the Recipes

All the recipes you see on my site are made up by me, unless otherwise stated. I love to experiment in the kitchen and as you can see my photo's are not all fancy, they are usually taken with my phone just as I am about to dish up. These are real tried and true recipes that work, if they didn't I wouldn't post it. I hope you enjoy my cooking as much as I do.
